CDM 2015 Awareness
For site operatives, supervisors and office staff who work on construction projects.
Friendly, practical health and safety training for people at work. Short online courses you can take at your own pace, with a certificate at the end of each one.
SEHS Academy is the online training arm of SE Health & Safety, bringing the same friendly, practical approach to training you can take online, whenever it suits you. SE Health & Safety was founded by Simone Eveson in 2021 and has been growing ever since. Simone holds the NEBOSH National Diploma, and that expertise is at the heart of every course we create.
Good training protects your people, your projects and your business. Here’s why it’s worth the time.
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 requires employers to give staff the information, instruction and training they need to work safely. On construction projects, the CDM Regulations 2015 also expect everyone you appoint to have the right skills, knowledge and training for their role.
People who understand the hazards, from working at height to manual handling, fire and asbestos, are quicker to spot problems and stop work before someone gets hurt.
Certificates and your team training matrix give you a clear record to show clients, principal contractors and inspectors, and make pre-qualification questions easier to answer.
Investing in your people shows you take their safety and development seriously. That helps you keep good staff and earns the trust of the clients you work for.
Pick a course and learn at your own pace, with a certificate when you pass.
Short, practical online courses written for people who work in construction. Take a look inside any course before you buy.

Our courses are written for people who work in construction, from site operatives and trades to supervisors, managers and office staff on construction projects. Each course page says exactly who it’s for. Take a look at all our courses.
Most courses take 30 to 45 minutes. They’re self-paced, so you can do a course in one go or in short bursts. Your progress is saved as you go, so you can pick up where you left off.
Just an internet connection and a web browser. Courses work on a computer, tablet or phone, so you can do them in the office, at home or in the site cabin.
Every course is written by Simone Eveson, a NEBOSH National Diploma holder, to current UK law and HSE guidance. [Add accreditation details, for example CPD, once confirmed]
Don’t worry. You can go back over the lessons and retake the assessment. Once you’ve started a course, you have up to 12 months to complete it and pass.
Your certificate shows your name, the course, the date and your score. It also has a unique certificate number, which we can use to confirm it’s genuine if your employer or a principal contractor asks.
No. Our courses are awareness training. A certificate shows you’ve completed the course and passed the assessment, but it doesn’t replace practical training, supervision or a licence where one is needed. For example, asbestos awareness training doesn’t allow you to remove asbestos.
We recommend refreshing Asbestos Awareness every year, in line with HSE guidance, and our other courses every 3 years. Your certificate shows a recommended refresher date. Your employer may ask you to refresh sooner, for example after a change in the law or an incident.
Each course shows its price on the All courses page. You can also save with the Site Starter Pack, which bundles four essential courses for new starters.
If you’re buying for yourself, you normally have 14 days to change your mind. Because our courses are digital, access starts straight away, and you lose the right to cancel once you start a course. If you cancel within 14 days and haven’t started, we’ll refund you in full. Business orders can’t usually be cancelled for a refund. See our cancellation information and Terms of Sale for full details.
Yes. Business customers can pay by invoice. Get in touch and we’ll set it up.
Yes. We’ll set up a private area for your company, and your nominated admin can add staff and assign courses. Contact us to talk about team training.
Your team training matrix shows who has completed each course, their scores, and when refreshers are due, so you can spot gaps before a client or inspector does.
No. Each course place is for one named person, so their certificate and training record are their own. If someone leaves before starting a course, you can pass their unused place to someone else.
We only use your team’s details to provide their training and keep their records. Our Privacy Policy explains how, and our Data Processing Agreement sets out how we handle your staff’s data on your behalf.
Call us on 07774 031154 or send us a message, and we’ll get back to you within one working day.

Your employer is the controller, so their own privacy notice also applies. If you want to use your data rights, you can contact your employer or us, and we will help them respond. |

Some learners may be aged 16 or 17, for example apprentices. Their employer is responsible for making sure it is appropriate for them to take our courses. We do not knowingly offer our services directly to anyone under 16.
UK data protection law says we must have a lawful basis for each way we use personal information. Ours are set out below.
| What we use it for | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Answering your enquiries and arranging demos | Legitimate interests: responding to people who contact us |
| Setting up accounts, providing courses, recording progress and issuing certificates | Contract with you or your employer. Where we act for your employer, we follow their instructions. |
| Giving your employer access to your training records and certificates | Contract with your employer, and their legitimate interest in keeping training records |

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. Pass or fail results come from the assessment score, and you can always retake an assessment.
We only share personal information where we need to, and our suppliers may only use it to provide their service to us.
Your employer, if they gave you access to our courses: your progress, scores, completion dates and certificates
[Training platform provider], which hosts our courses and learner records
Netlify, Inc., which hosts our website and contact form. Messages you send through our contact form are stored on Netlify’s servers in the United States
[Payment provider], which processes card payments
Our email and IT providers, such as [email provider]
Our accountants and professional advisers, where needed
Regulators, courts or law enforcement, where the law requires it
If you ask us to confirm that a certificate is genuine, for example as a principal contractor checking a worker’s training, we will only confirm the details shown on the certificate.
Some of our suppliers may store or access information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure it is protected by UK adequacy regulations, such as for countries in the European Economic Area, or by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement. For example, Netlify, which hosts our website and contact form, is based in the United States. Our agreement with Netlify includes the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to protect your information. Contact us for more details.
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it. Where we act for your employer, we follow their instructions on retention.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don’t lead to a sale | 2 years from our last contact |
| Learner accounts and training records | For as long as your account or your employer’s contract is active, then [6 years], so certificates can still be checked |
| Certificate numbers and completion records | [6 years] after the certificate is issued |
| Invoices and financial records | 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required by tax law |
| Marketing preferences | Until you unsubscribe, then only a record that you opted out |
At the end of these periods, we delete the information or make it anonymous.
We use suppliers with appropriate security, including encrypted connections, password-protected accounts and access controls. Each employer’s records are kept separate, and only that employer’s authorised administrators can see them. Only people who need to see your information to do their job can access it. If there is a data breach that is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the ICO where the law requires it.

These terms apply to all courses, subscriptions and training services sold by SE Health & Safety Ltd. Last updated: [date].
1.1 We are SE Health & Safety Ltd, company number 13119705, registered at 4th Floor, 10 Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 6AF, VAT number GB429962747 (“SEHS Academy”, “we”, “us”). SEHS Academy is a trading name of SE Health & Safety Ltd. You can contact us at [Contact email].
1.2 These terms form the contract between us and the person or organisation buying from us (“you”). Please read them before you order. By placing an order, you agree to them.
1.3 Most of our customers are businesses. Section 6 gives extra rights to individuals buying for themselves as consumers. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
1.4 In these terms:
Course means an online training course in our library.
Learner means a person who takes a Course using an account we provide.
Licence means the right for one named Learner to take one Course.
Subscription means access to our course library for a set number of Learners for a set period.
Bespoke Training means training we write or adapt for you under a separate quote.
Platform means the online system we use to deliver Courses, track progress and issue certificates.
Customer Admin means the person you nominate to manage your Learners on the Platform.
2.1 We sell:
Licences, bought per Learner per Course
Subscriptions, giving access to the course library for an agreed number of Learners for an agreed period
Bespoke Training, under a separate written quote
2.2 You can order online, or by accepting a written quote from us. A quote is valid for 30 days unless it says otherwise.
2.3 The contract starts when we confirm your order in writing, including by email, or when we give you access to the Platform, whichever happens first.
2.4 For Bespoke Training, the quote will set out what we will produce, the timescale and the price. Any changes you ask for after we accept the order may change the price or timescale, and we will agree this with you first.
2.5 Unused Licences expire [Licence expiry] after purchase. Once a Learner has started a Course, they can complete it and retake the assessment for up to 12 months.
3.1 For business customers, we will set up a private company area on the Platform and give access to your Customer Admin. Your Customer Admin can add Learners, assign Courses and see your company’s training records.
3.2 Each Licence and each Subscription place is for one named Learner. Accounts and logins must not be shared. You may reassign an unused Licence to a different Learner, but not once a Course has been started.
3.3 You are responsible for:
giving us accurate details for your Customer Admin and Learners
keeping login details secure, and telling us straight away if you think an account has been misused
removing Learners who leave your organisation
making sure your Learners use the Platform in line with these terms
3.4 Learners must be aged 16 or over. If a Learner is under 18, you are responsible for making sure the training is suitable for them.
4.1 Prices are shown on our website or in your quote. Prices for business customers exclude VAT, which will be added at the current rate. Prices shown to individual buyers include VAT.
4.2 Individuals pay by card when ordering. Business customers pay [Payment terms], unless we agree otherwise in writing. Subscriptions are invoiced at the start of each subscription period.
4.3 If a business customer pays late, we may:
charge interest and compensation under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998
suspend access to the Platform until the overdue amount is paid, after giving you at least 7 days’ written notice
4.4 We may change our prices from time to time. Changes won’t affect orders we have already accepted. For Subscriptions, we will give you at least [Subscription notice period] notice of any price change before your renewal date.
5.1 Subscriptions run for the period stated in your order, usually 12 months.
5.2 Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless either of us gives written notice at least [Subscription notice period] before the renewal date. We will remind you before your renewal date.
5.3 You can add Learners to a Subscription at any time. We will charge for them pro rata for the rest of the period. You can’t reduce the number of Learners until the next renewal.
5.4 Business customers can’t cancel an accepted order for a refund, except as set out in these terms or where we have agreed in writing.
5.5 For Bespoke Training, if you cancel after we have started work, you must pay for the work done up to the date of cancellation.
6.1 This section only applies if you are buying for yourself, and not for a business.
6.2 You normally have 14 days to change your mind and cancel an online order, starting on the day after we confirm your order.
6.3 Because our Courses are digital content, when you order we will ask you to agree that access starts straight away, and to confirm you understand that you lose your right to cancel once you start a Course. If you cancel within 14 days and haven’t started the Course, we will give you a full refund within 14 days of your request.
6.4 By law, our Courses must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If a Course is faulty and we can’t fix it within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a refund. Nothing in these terms affects these legal rights.
7.1 A Learner who passes a Course assessment receives a certificate showing their name, the Course, the date and the score. Each certificate has a unique number we can use to confirm it is genuine.
7.2 Our Courses are awareness training. A certificate confirms that the Learner completed the Course and passed its assessment. It does not by itself show that the Learner is competent to carry out any particular task.
7.3 Unless a Course clearly says otherwise, our Courses and certificates:
are not formal qualifications and are not accredited by any awarding body
do not replace training or cards required by an industry scheme, a principal contractor or the law, such as CSCS cards, CITB SSSTS or SMSTS, PASMA, IPAF, or licensed asbestos training
do not replace site inductions, task-specific instruction, or supervision
7.4 As an employer, you remain responsible for making sure your workers have the skills, knowledge, training and experience they need, including practical training and supervision. You also remain responsible for any site-specific or task-specific information and instruction.
8.1 We, or our licensors, own all rights in our Courses, including the text, diagrams, scenarios, assessments, images and designs.
8.2 We give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for your Learners to use the Courses you have paid for, through the Platform, for your own internal training, for the period of your Licence or Subscription.
8.3 You must not, and must make sure your Learners do not:
copy, download, record, screenshot for distribution, or reproduce any Course content
share Course content or assessment answers with anyone else
resell the Courses, or use them to train people outside your organisation
use the Courses to create competing training materials
8.4 For Bespoke Training, we keep ownership of our existing materials and methods. The quote will set out any rights you have in materials created specially for you.
9.1 The Platform is provided through a third-party learning platform provider. We will use reasonable efforts to keep it available, but we can’t promise uninterrupted access. There may be short breaks for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Where we can, we will warn you in advance about planned maintenance.
9.2 Our Courses reflect UK law and guidance at the time they were written or last reviewed. We review them regularly and may update them, but laws and guidance change.
9.3 Our Courses give general information and training. They are not legal advice or project-specific health and safety advice, and they don’t replace a risk assessment, method statement or professional advice for a particular project.
9.4 We may update, improve or withdraw a Course. If we withdraw a Course you have paid for and a Learner hasn’t started it, we will offer you a replacement Course or a refund for that Licence.
10.1 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:
death or personal injury caused by our negligence
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
anything else that can’t be limited or excluded by law
10.2 If you are a business customer:
we are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss
we are not liable for accidents, incidents, enforcement action or losses on your projects or sites, which remain your responsibility as the employer or duty holder (see section 7.4)
our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim
10.3 If you are an individual buyer, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable, or for any business losses.
11.1 Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal information.
11.2 When we process your Learners’ personal information on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. Our data processing agreement, which forms part of these terms, sets out how we handle that information.
11.3 You confirm that you have a lawful basis to give us your Learners’ information, and that you have told them how it will be used.
12.1 We may suspend or close an account if a Learner shares their login, copies Course content, or otherwise seriously breaks these terms. We will tell you first unless there is an urgent reason not to.
12.2 Either of us may end the contract straight away by written notice if the other:
seriously breaks these terms and, where it can be fixed, doesn’t fix it within 14 days of being asked to
becomes insolvent, or stops trading
12.3 When the contract ends, access to the Platform ends. We will give business customers a copy of their Learners’ training records and certificates if asked within 30 days. After that, we will handle the records as set out in our Privacy Policy and data processing agreement.
13.1 If you have a complaint, contact us at [Contact email]. We will acknowledge it within 5 working days and aim to resolve it within 20 working days.
13.2 Neither of us is responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a platform provider outage, internet failure or extreme weather.
13.3 These terms, your order and any quote make up the whole agreement between us. If a quote and these terms conflict, the quote applies.
13.4 We may update these terms. The version in force when you place an order applies to that order. For Subscriptions, changes apply from your next renewal, and we will tell you about them beforehand.
13.5 You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written agreement. We may transfer our rights to another company within our group, or to a business that takes over ours, and we will tell you if we do.
13.6 No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms.
13.7 If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest will still apply.
13.8 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are an individual living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
Draft, awaiting legal review. Highlighted items are still to be completed.
This agreement is between:
[Customer name] of [customer address] (the “Customer”), and
SE Health & Safety Ltd, company number 13119705, of 4th Floor, 10 Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 6AF (“SEHS Academy”).
The Customer uses SEHS Academy’s online training courses for its staff under the SEHS Academy Terms of Sale (the “Main Contract”). To provide that service, SEHS Academy processes personal data about the Customer’s staff on the Customer’s behalf. This agreement sets out how SEHS Academy will do that, as required by Article 28 of the UK GDPR. It forms part of the Main Contract.
In this agreement:
Data Protection Law means the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and any other UK law about personal data that applies.
Controller, Processor, Data Subject, Personal Data, Personal Data Breach and Processing have the meanings given in the UK GDPR.
Customer Personal Data means the Personal Data described in Schedule 1 that SEHS Academy processes on the Customer’s behalf.
Sub-processor means any third party that SEHS Academy uses to process Customer Personal Data.
If this agreement and the Main Contract conflict on data protection, this agreement applies.
3.1 The Customer is the Controller and SEHS Academy is the Processor of the Customer Personal Data.
3.2 SEHS Academy will only process Customer Personal Data on the Customer’s documented instructions. These are set out in this agreement, the Main Contract, and the Customer’s use of the Platform’s settings, such as adding Learners or assigning Courses. The only exception is where UK law requires SEHS Academy to process it. In that case, SEHS Academy will tell the Customer first unless the law forbids this.
3.3 SEHS Academy will tell the Customer straight away if it believes an instruction breaks Data Protection Law.
3.4 The Customer is responsible for:
having a lawful basis to share its staff’s Personal Data with SEHS Academy
telling its staff how their Personal Data will be used, including by SEHS Academy
making sure its instructions comply with Data Protection Law
3.5 SEHS Academy will not use Customer Personal Data for its own purposes. SEHS Academy may use anonymous summary data that doesn’t identify any person, such as average assessment scores, to improve its Courses.
4.1 SEHS Academy will make sure that everyone it authorises to access Customer Personal Data is bound by a duty of confidentiality, and only accesses it where they need to.
4.2 SEHS Academy will put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect Customer Personal Data, as required by Article 32 of the UK GDPR. The measures are set out in Schedule 2. SEHS Academy may update them, as long as the level of protection doesn’t go down.
5.1 The Customer gives SEHS Academy general permission to use Sub-processors. The Sub-processors in place when this agreement is signed are listed in Schedule 3.
5.2 SEHS Academy will give the Customer at least 30 days’ written notice before adding or replacing a Sub-processor. The Customer may object on reasonable data protection grounds within that period. If we can’t resolve the objection, the Customer may end the affected service without penalty.
5.3 SEHS Academy will have a written contract with each Sub-processor that gives Customer Personal Data the same level of protection as this agreement.
5.4 SEHS Academy remains responsible to the Customer for the work of its Sub-processors.
6.1 SEHS Academy will only transfer Customer Personal Data outside the UK, or allow a Sub-processor to do so, where the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations, such as for the European Economic Area, or by appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
6.2 Schedule 3 shows where each Sub-processor stores data.
7.1 If SEHS Academy receives a request from one of the Customer’s staff to use their data protection rights, such as asking for a copy of their training records, SEHS Academy will pass it to the Customer within 5 working days and will not respond directly unless the Customer asks it to.
7.2 SEHS Academy will help the Customer respond to these requests, taking into account the nature of the processing. Most training records can be exported by the Customer Admin directly from the Platform.
7.3 SEHS Academy will tell the Customer without undue delay, and in any case within 48 hours, after becoming aware of a Personal Data Breach affecting Customer Personal Data.
7.4 SEHS Academy will give the Customer the information it reasonably needs to meet its own obligations, including to report to the ICO within 72 hours where required. This includes, as far as SEHS Academy knows them:
what happened, and when
the types of data and the approximate number of people affected
the likely consequences
what SEHS Academy has done, or will do, to deal with it and reduce any harm
7.5 SEHS Academy will not tell the ICO or the affected people about a breach of Customer Personal Data without the Customer’s agreement, unless the law requires it.
7.6 SEHS Academy will give the Customer reasonable help with any data protection impact assessment, or prior consultation with the ICO, that relates to SEHS Academy’s services.
8.1 SEHS Academy will make available to the Customer the information reasonably needed to show that it is meeting this agreement. This will usually be through written answers to questionnaires, and copies of relevant policies and Sub-processors’ security certifications.
8.2 If that isn’t enough, the Customer, or an auditor it appoints who is bound by confidentiality, may carry out an audit. This is limited to once a year, unless there has been a Personal Data Breach or the ICO requires it. The Customer must give at least 30 days’ notice and pay its own costs.
9.1 This agreement lasts for as long as SEHS Academy processes Customer Personal Data under the Main Contract.
9.2 When the Main Contract ends, the Customer may ask for an export of its training records and certificates within 30 days. After that, SEHS Academy will delete Customer Personal Data within [90 days], and ask its Sub-processors to do the same, unless the law requires SEHS Academy to keep it. SEHS Academy will confirm the deletion in writing if asked.
9.3 SEHS Academy may keep the certificate number, Learner name, Course and completion date for the period in Schedule 1, so that certificates can still be verified, unless the Customer tells SEHS Academy in writing not to.
10.1 Each party’s liability under this agreement is subject to the limits in the Main Contract, except where Data Protection Law does not allow liability to be limited.
10.2 This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

These rules apply to everyone who takes an SEHS Academy course, whether you bought it yourself or your employer gave you access. You agree to them when you create your account. Last updated: [date].
They keep certificates meaningful. When a principal contractor, client or inspector sees an SEHS Academy certificate, they need to trust that the person named on it did the training.
1.1 Your account is for you only. Don’t share your login details, and don’t let anyone else use your account.
1.2 Use your real name. It will appear on your certificates.
1.3 Keep your password safe. If you think someone else knows it, change it straight away and tell us at [Contact email].
2.1 Do every course and assessment yourself. Don’t ask or let anyone else do them for you, even in part.
2.2 You can look back at the lessons while you study. During the assessment, answer the questions on your own, without help from another person.
2.3 Don’t share or publish the assessment questions or answers, and don’t use answers someone else has shared.
2.4 You can retake an assessment if you don’t pass. Once you have started a course, you have up to 12 months to complete it.
3.1 The courses are for your own training. You must not copy, record, screenshot, download, share or sell course content, except where a course gives you a document to keep.
3.2 You can talk about what you have learned with your colleagues. That’s the point of the training.
4.1 Our courses are awareness training. A certificate shows you completed the course and passed the assessment on that date.
4.2 A certificate doesn’t, on its own, make you competent to carry out a particular task. It doesn’t replace practical training, supervision, or a licence or card where one is needed. For example, asbestos awareness training doesn’t allow you to remove asbestos.
4.3 Don’t change a certificate, or show a certificate as yours if it isn’t.
5.1 If we reasonably believe these rules have been broken, we may:
5.2 We will tell you what we believe has happened and give you the chance to respond before we make a final decision, unless the law or a risk of harm prevents this. You can appeal a decision using our Complaints and Appeals Procedure.
If your employer gave you access, they can see your progress, scores and certificates. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use your information.
If you have any questions about these rules, email us at [Contact email] or call 07774 031154.

We want everyone to be able to use the SEHS Academy website and take our courses, including people with disabilities, learning differences and people who don’t have English as a first language. This statement covers sehsacademy.co.uk. Last updated: [date].
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This means you should be able to:
We also write our courses in plain English, in short sections, so they are easier to follow.
We last checked the website on [date] by [how it was checked, for example “testing it ourselves with a screen reader and keyboard” or “an external audit by [company]”].
We know these parts may be harder to use:
We are working to fix these by [date]. [Delete this list if you don’t know of any issues.]
If you find it hard to use the website or a course, contact us and we’ll do our best to help. For example, we can:
Email us at [Contact email] or call 07774 031154, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Tell us which course or page you need, and what would help. We’ll reply within 5 working days.
If you need an adjustment to an assessment, our [Reasonable Adjustments Policy] explains how we decide what we can offer.
If you find something on the website that isn’t accessible, or isn’t covered in this statement, please tell us at [Contact email]. We’ll look into it and tell you what we plan to do.
If you aren’t happy with our response, you can make a complaint using our Complaints and Appeals Procedure.
Draft, awaiting legal review. Highlighted items are still to be completed.
If something has gone wrong, we want to put it right. This procedure explains how to make a complaint, how to appeal a decision about your assessment or certificate, and what we’ll do. Last updated: [date].
Both follow the same steps below.
Many problems can be sorted out quickly. Call us on 07774 031154, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, or email [Contact email]. If we can’t fix it straight away, or you aren’t happy with our answer, use the steps below.
Email [Contact email] or write to SE Health & Safety Ltd, 4th Floor, 10 Lower Thames Street, London, EC3R 6AF. Put “Complaint” or “Appeal” at the start of your message. Please tell us:
Please contact us within 3 months of the problem. For an appeal about an assessment or certificate, please contact us within 30 days of the decision.
If we uphold your complaint or appeal, we’ll explain what we’ll do to put it right. This might be a correction, a new attempt at an assessment, a reissued certificate, a refund or an apology.
If you aren’t happy with our decision, you can ask for it to be reviewed by Simone Eveson or Jamie Eveson. Ask within 14 days of our decision. Their review is our final answer, and we’ll send it within 15 working days.
If you are a consumer, you may be able to take your complaint to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. We are not obliged to, and do not currently, use an ADR provider. You can also get advice from Citizens Advice.
We keep a record of every complaint and appeal, what we decided and what we changed. We review these records every [6 months] to improve our courses and service.
Making a complaint or appeal won’t affect how we treat you.
Draft, awaiting legal review. Highlighted items are still to be completed.
If a disability, health condition, learning difference such as dyslexia, or difficulty with written English makes a course or assessment harder for you, we will make reasonable changes so you have a fair chance to show what you know. This policy explains how. Last reviewed: [date].
An adjustment changes how you take a course or assessment. It doesn’t change what is being tested, or make the assessment easier to pass. This keeps every SEHS Academy certificate meaningful.
| If you need | We can usually offer |
|---|---|
| More time | Courses and assessments have no time limit, and you can stop and come back. Your progress is saved |
| Help reading | Screen reader support; the assessment questions read to you by phone or video call |
| Help writing or using a mouse | Keyboard-only use; telling us your answers by phone or video call, which we record |
| Large print or another format | Course content as a large-print PDF or Word document |
| Help with English | Talking through a lesson with you by phone or video call |
| Something else | Tell us what would help, and we’ll look at it with you |
3.1 Email [Contact email] or call 07774 031154, ideally before you start the course. Tell us which course, and what you find difficult. You don’t have to give us a diagnosis or medical evidence for most adjustments.
3.2 If you are taking the course through your employer, you can ask us directly. We won’t tell your employer about your request unless you ask us to.
3.3 We’ll reply within 5 working days and agree the adjustment with you.
We consider:
If we can’t offer what you asked for, we’ll explain why and suggest an alternative. You can appeal our decision using the [Complaints and Appeals Procedure].
Any health or disability information you share is kept private and used only to arrange your adjustment. We ask for your consent before recording it. We delete it 1 year after you complete the course, keeping only a note that an adjustment was made. Our Privacy Policy explains more.
We keep a record of each request and what we agreed, and review all requests every 12 months to see whether courses could be made more accessible for everyone.

SEHS Academy treats every learner, customer and person who works with us fairly, and designs its courses so that everyone in construction can take part. Owner: Simone Eveson. Last reviewed: [date].
We will not discriminate against anyone because of any of the nine protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010:
We also won’t treat people unfairly because of their background, level of education, literacy or the job they do.
This policy applies to everyone who works for or with SEHS Academy, including staff, freelance course writers and reviewers. It covers how we treat learners, customers, suppliers and each other.
If you think you have been treated unfairly, tell us using our Complaints and Appeals Procedure. We take every report seriously, and making a complaint won’t affect how we treat you.
Every 12 months we review complaints, appeals, adjustment requests and learner feedback for signs that any group is being disadvantaged, and record what we change.
